And so it began...

These boys are what brought us together early in the Fall of 2013. They had just started 7th grade and they all played football. One of them, the cute one on the far left, misplaced his football shorts. They all had the exact same pair of practice shorts, so this was something that was bound to happen to one of them. But Manly will forever be the one known as the owner of the lost shorts, and the reason of all their mamas would know almost everything that went on in the hallowed halls of their high school. They graduated in 2019 and began a new chapter in their lives, and so did their moms (that would be the gorgeous women behind the very handsome graduates).
We were kind of like a nicer version of a southern-style mafia. If there was an need, we met it (we worked a lot of hours in the concession and merchandise booths...like a gazillion hours). If we needed info on a new love interest, we had inside informants(we will never reveal our sources). If someone hurt one of the boys' hearts, there may have been discussions where we channeled Michael Corleone, but we learned quickly to take a hands off approach...or so we led them to believe. If a situation warranted prayer (a lot of situations warranted prayer in seven years of raising boys), we prayed. And then we prayed some more. We had a real time chat going 24/7, 365. Bless their hearts, but they had to endure high school knowing their moms were pretty much discussing it all as it happened. But they would just shrug and say "Da Moms know all this, right?" They knew we had their backs, and that Ms. Crystal would always make sure they had extra food in the lunch line. If someone forgot something, or needed something for a project, or money for a field trip, or a bed in a snowstorm, or a ride somewhere, or just a hug, these young men knew there were a bunch of other moms that would take care of them, no matter what. And even better, us moms knew we had other women we could turn to at a moment's notice for just about anything. Thankfully, what happens in our chat, stays in our chat. Kind of like Vegas, but a lot cheaper.
A lot happens in 2,555 days of chats with 8 women and their sons. There was drama, there were tears, some hurt feelings, deep theological discussions, emoji Christmas Carol challenges, and a ton of laughter and unconditional support. We all love Jesus more than anything or anyone else, and He is the center of our friendships. When you know the friendships you are investing in right now are eternal ones, it changes everything. You love deeper, forgive more, try harder, and share so many incredible memories. Our sons have gone their own ways, pursuing their futures in many different directions and places, but they will always be connected by a pair of lost shorts...and the DaMoms.
And we know too much about each other to disband...so here we are in a blog sharing our stories, our hard-earned wisdom, our love of Jesus and His Word, our talents, and probably our struggles and trials. We are glad you are here!
